November 4th, 2013 UPDATE: 2014 CBR1000RR SP / Ohlin's Suspension + Brembo Brakes + More Horsepower on the CBR1000RR for 2014! Click Here.

I know a lot of people have been reading and hoping for new information on the all new possible V4 Honda Sport Bike (CBR?) derived from the RC213V. Well here is a small update that is legitimate and not a rumor like most of them that are floating around.

Update from TOKYO, Japan on May 27, 2013 - Honda will unveil a whole new production model by the end of 2013 with release date info, which is for the 2014 FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix MotoGP class. The new model will enable entrants to race in MotoGP at lower cost starting from next season.

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), with its test rider, ran a prototype successfully at the circuit of TWIN RING MOTEGI. The test took place from May 23rd through 24th, 2013.

Comment by Shuhei Nakamoto, Executive Vice President of Honda Racing Corporation
“Development of the model is currently a little behind schedule but the test results showed more than what we had expected, in particular, with its running performance. We can’t announce its name or the specification at this stage but we will have an opportunity of announcing the details in the not too distant future. We will keep on developing the machine to meet the 2014 MotoGP technical and sporting regulations, and will introduce the model by the end of this year.”
So it looks like (knock on wood) if things keep progressing well we will have some major updates on this all new bike before the end of 2013. I've got my fingers crossed with money to put a deposit on one ASAP! haha. Honda is back!

  1. From everything I've read, the RC213V is going to be a track bike only, not street legal. Since I'm not a professional racer, while I can appreciate a bike like that, it doesn't mean anything to me as a consumer.

I want to know what Honda is going to do with the 2014+ CBR1000RR!!

  2. Honda never stated in their press release that it was only going to be a "track" bike, they just stated it was going to have technology trickled down from the MotoGP RC213V etc. Either way if it ends up being street legal or not, I just hope they keep it affordable for us mere mortals and keep it around $20,000 if not a little less. Who knows though, all we can do is speculate and cross our fingers haha.

September is when we find out what Honda is doing with some of the new models for 2014 and the CBR1000RR will be part of that update for us dealers. I don't see the 2014 CBR1000RR getting any major changes since its last redesign was 2012 but I've been wrong in the past.

I'm just glad to see Honda back in the came releasing new and exciting products again. The economy tanking in 2008/2009 really did a number on all of the manufacturers and the majority of them have been in hiding since then not wanting to sink millions into R&D for a new bike that might flop.

I'll hush now, I could keep on rambling all day when it comes to this stuff haha. Thanks for taking the time to read my Blog and post up too, appreciate it.
